Chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus Ivan Tertel has informed Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko about the situation at the external contour and inside the country.
The KGB chief shared some details of the report with journalists, BelTA has learned.
Ivan Tertel said: “The head of state heard out a report on current operations from the KGB. It was based on the situation emerging on the eve of New Year and Christmas celebrations. Detailed information was presented about the situation evolving at the external contour, inside our country, about the concept behind actions of state security agencies during the festive days. On the whole, we can state that the situation remains under control. We are working in a reinforced mode together with our colleagues from the Internal Affairs Ministry, the State Border Committee, and the Defense Ministry.”
The KGB chief addressed parents of teenagers aged 14-18. As a rule, this category of underage citizens is in the increased risk zone during such a period from the point of view of security.
“The head of state gave instructions to step up control over the operational situation, prevent emergencies, continue planned work together with the Defense Ministry, the State Border Committee in matters concerning the protection of the state border, maintaining high vigilance in matters of protection of the public order, protection of interests of citizens during these days. The KGB is completely ready to carry out this task both in regions of our country and in the capital city of our state,” the KGB chief stated.
