CIS medical research institutions keen to cooperate in COVID-19 response

Cooperation amid the COVID-19 pandemic was in focus of a joint meeting of the base organization on public health and informatization of healthcare of the CIS member states and the appropriate interstate network of institutes, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Taking part in the meeting were representatives of the Central Research Institute of Organization and Informatization of Healthcare of the Russian Ministry Of Health, including director of the institute Olga Kobyakova, Rector of Tashkent Medical Academy Alisher Shadmanov, Director of the Belarusian National Research Center of Medical Technology, Informatization, Management, and Health Economics Dmitry Ruzanov, and others.

The interstate network of institutes of public health and informatization of healthcare was set up in 2016 by the decision of the CIS Healthcare Cooperation Council. It comprises several medical research organizations of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

The network is meant to facilitate cooperation and coordination in preparing proposals for joint statements of the CIS member states, including through the Interstate Commission on Interaction with the World Health Organization and at meetings of WHO regulatory bodies and committees, as well as to support efforts to collect and share technologies, methods, and instruments in the field of healthcare and promote exchange of best practices in public health and informatization of healthcare.
